Actionable Advice for Founders & High Performers

Attitude (Fundamental #1)

Fundamental #1 in the Fundamentally Unstoppable Program

Attitude is the very first fundamental of my program Fundamentally Unstoppable. It is first because every other fundamental is absolutely moot without attitude first period. Attitude sets the tone for everything in your life. Attitude is what makes you a good or bad leader, a good a bad manager, a good or bad parent, a good or bad lover. Attitude is the single most important fundamental. Period.

This is the bedrock of everything I’ve achieved in my life, and I know it can be for you too. My journey hasn’t been a smooth one—by the age of 17, I had been arrested nine times. I was kicked out of every school I attended, and I’ve battled serious mental health challenges like bipolar disorder, depression, and addiction. There were moments when I could’ve given up, and almost did, but I turned my life around, and I credit that transformation to a powerful and consistent shift in my attitude.

Let me share how this happened. Early in my life, I could’ve let those setbacks define me. I could’ve looked at every arrest, every expulsion, every struggle as proof that I wasn’t good enough. But instead, I made a conscious choice to see each challenge as an opportunity to grow. I took an unhealth chip on my shoulder based on entitlement and turned to a positive mindset that became a healthy chip on my shoulders, shouting “I will prove you all wrong”. That mindset shift was everything—it took me from a troubled kid who never went to college to a successful entrepreneur, a coach, a 7-time Inc 5000 honoree, a Top 250 Leader in the World, and the author of Fundamentally Unstoppable. I learned that a positive attitude doesn’t mean ignoring the hard stuff—it means choosing to focus on the possibilities, even when the odds are stacked against you.

I’ve found that research backs this up in a big way. Studies in positive psychology, like those by Robert Emmons, show that practicing gratitude can increase your happiness by 25% and even reduce depression. That’s why I talk about an “attitude of gratitude” in my book—it’s a game-changer. When I was at my lowest, gratitude helped me operate from a place of abundance instead of scarcity. I’d focus on what I had—a supportive family, a new day to try again—rather than what I’d lost. That shift built resilience in me, and it’s what allowed me to keep going, even when I felt like I had nothing left.

One tool I use to keep my attitude in check is what I call a “Check-up-from-the-Neck-Up,” inspired by the great Zig Ziglar. I ask myself: How much time am I spending on regret, fear, doubt or resentment? How much on activities that bring me joy? How much on cultivating happiness? This practice was a lifeline during my mental health struggles. It helped me reframe my negative thoughts and build a positive outlook, even when I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I’d sit down, reflect, and realize I was spending too much energy on what I couldn’t change. Instead, I started focusing on what I could control—like my mindset, my actions, and my gratitude.

I’ve also seen how a bad attitude can sabotage everything. In my book, I talk about the pitfalls—like self-defeating talk, fear of failure, or ruminating on the past. I’ve been there. When I was younger, I used to tell myself, “I’ll never make it. I’m a failure.” But I learned to counter that noise with gratitude and a learning mindset. I’d ask myself, “What can I learn from this?” That question turned my failures into stepping stones. My attitude is what allowed me to rise from the ashes, not once, but three times after losing everything. It’s what turned a kid with no formal education into a global leader. I’m sharing this with you because I know you can harness the same power. Let’s build an unstoppable attitude together, starting today.

Effort

Fundamental #2 in the Fundamentally Unstoppable Program

Hey, unstoppable champions! I’m Jason Caras, and I’m here to talk about Fundamental #2: Effort—212 Degrees. This principle has been a total game-changer in my life, and I know it can be for you too. Let me break it down for you. At 211 degrees, water is hot, but at 212 degrees, it boils, creating steam that can power a locomotive. That one extra degree of effort creates exponential results, and I’ve lived this truth over and over again. I’ve had to rebuild my life three times after losing everything—penniless, starting from scratch. Each time, it was my consistent, relentless effort that got me through. Whether I was starting over financially or battling mental health challenges like bipolar disorder and addiction, I showed up every single day, giving that extra degree.

Let me share a story from my journey. After my third loss, I was at rock bottom. I was struggling with my mental health, trying to be there for my family—my wife Jennifer, my kids Sophia, Paxton, and Solimar—and chasing my dreams of building something meaningful. There were days I wanted to give up, but I didn’t. I asked myself: Am I giving my all? Am I at 211 or 212 degrees? That question lit a fire in me. I started applying the CANI model from Tony Robbins—Constant And Never-ending Improvement. It’s all about small, consistent steps that lead to big results. I’d add that extra degree—one more call to a potential client, one more hour of work, one more moment of gratitude. That effort turned my life around, step by step, until I was back on my feet, stronger than ever.

I’ve learned that small margins make a huge difference. Take the 2004 Olympic swimming competition, for example—the gap between gold and silver was just 0.43 seconds. That’s the power of effort—that one extra degree can change everything. In my own life, effort is what separates the moments I stayed stuck from the moments I soared. It’s what took me from a kid who never went to college to a 7-time Inc 5000 honoree, a Top 250 Leader in the World, and a coach who’s impacted thousands of lives.

But let’s be real—effort isn’t always easy. There were days I was exhausted, days I doubted myself, days I wondered if it was worth it. But I kept showing up, because I knew success isn’t a gift—it’s a daily job. It’s the rent you pay every day to live your dreams. That effort is what built my companies, what earned me awards, what turned me into the ‘phoenix’ my family calls me—someone who rises from the ashes, again and again. I’m sharing this with you because I want you to see the power of effort in your own life. Let’s turn up the heat together and go from 211 to 212 degrees, starting today.

Personal & Professional Development

Fundamental #3 in the Fundamentally Unstoppable Program

Hey, unstoppable learners! I’m Jason Caras, and I’m here to talk about Fundamental #3: Personal and Professional Development. Growth has been a cornerstone of my life, and I’m passionate about helping you embrace it too. I never went to college—I was kicked out of every school I attended as a kid. But I had this burning hunger to learn, and that’s what changed everything for me. I’d buy books from friends who were in college because I didn’t want to miss out on knowledge. That learning attitude turned me from a troubled kid into a 7-time Inc 5000 honoree, a Top 250 Leader in the World, and a coach who’s transformed thousands of lives.

I believe growth isn’t about formal education—it’s about a lifelong commitment to getting better every single day. I’ve learned everywhere I go—from conversations at the grocery store to trying new hobbies like making butter, cooking or fishing with my kids,. I’ve also learned from books by incredible thought leaders like Jim Rohn and Tony Robbins, who became my virtual mentors. They taught me principles like taking responsibility for my own growth, which I applied in my businesses and my personal life. But honestly, some of my biggest lessons came from failure. Losing everything three times—financially, emotionally, starting from scratch—taught me resilience, problem-solving, and the value of showing up every day to grow, even when it’s hard.

Let me share a story that really drives this home. When I started my first company, I had no formal business training. I was just a kid who’d been in trouble, trying to figure it out. But I sought out mentors who took the time to guide me. I’d ask them questions, soak up their wisdom, and apply it to my work. I also read every business book I could get my hands on. That commitment to learning helped me build companies that outranked Microsoft as the #1 place to work in Florida. It’s also what helped me navigate my mental health challenges—bipolar disorder, ADHD, addiction. I learned coping strategies, like mindfulness and journaling, that kept me grounded during my darkest days.

I’ve seen how growth impacts every area of life. Professionally, employers value people who take ownership of their development—people who are always learning, always improving. Personally, growth keeps you curious and alive—it’s what makes life rich and meaningful. For me, growth isn’t a destination; it’s a daily journey. It’s what turned a kid with no college degree into a global leader. It’s what helped me rise from the ashes three times. And it’s what will help you become the best version of yourself. I’m here to help you ignite that learning attitude and start your growth journey, right now, today.

Become a Disciplined Person

Fundamental #4 in the Fundamentally Unstoppable Program

Hey, unstoppable dynamos! I’m Jason Caras, and I’m here to talk about Fundamental #4: Become a Disciplined Person. Discipline is the backbone of everything I’ve achieved in my life, and I’m so excited to share this with you. Let me take you back to a pivotal time in my journey. Writing Fundamentally Unstoppable while running a company wasn’t easy—it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I was juggling my roles as a dad, a husband to my amazing wife, and a coach to thousands, all while battling bipolar disorder. But I made it happen through daily discipline. I showed up every day, even if it was just for 30 minutes, to write. That discipline turned my dream into a book that’s changing lives around the world.

I believe discipline beats motivation every single time. Motivation comes and goes—it’s like a wave that crashes and fades. But discipline? It’s the steady current that keeps you moving forward, no matter how you feel. Research backs this up—studies from Duke University show that 40% of our daily actions are habits, so I focus on building unstoppable ones. For me, that meant creating routines that kept me grounded, especially during the toughest times. When I was rebuilding after losing everything—not once, but three times—I’d wake up at 5 AM, journal my thoughts, set my mindset for the day, and plan my day. That structure gave me a sense of control when everything else felt chaotic.

Let me share a specific moment that really crystallized this for me. When I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at 42, my life felt like it was spiraling. I was unmedicated for years, living in chaos, and I didn’t know how to find stability. But I started small—I committed to just 5 minutes of mindfulness every morning. I’d sit quietly, breathe deeply, and focus on the present. That tiny habit grew into a daily routine that kept me centered, even on my worst days. Over time, that discipline helped me manage my mental health, rebuild my businesses, and show up as the best version of myself for my family and my clients.

Discipline isn’t about being perfect—it’s about being consistent. It’s about showing up, even when you don’t feel like it, even when it’s hard. Discipline is what allowed me to rise from the ashes, again and again. I’m sharing this with you because I know discipline can be your superpower too. Let’s build those habits together and keep showing up, starting today.

Invest in Philosophy & Integrity

Fundamental #5 in the Fundamentally Unstoppable Program

Hey, unstoppable souls! I’m Jason Caras, and I’m here to talk about Fundamental #5: Invest in an Integrity-based Philosophy. Integrity is something I hold sacred—it’s been one of the cornerstone of my life and my success, and I’m so passionate about sharing this with you. I believe integrity means aligning my actions with my values, even when it’s hard, even when no one’s watching. I’ve lived this principle through my leadership at IT Authorities, where I made a commitment to transparency and consistency. I’d be upfront with my team about challenges, even when it was tough, because I knew trust was everything. That integrity earned me the loyalty of my team. That’s the power of living with integrity—it builds trust and creates lasting impact.

Let me share a personal story that really shaped my understanding of integrity. Early in my career, I faced a tough choice. I had the chance to close a big deal, but it would’ve meant bending my values—fudging some numbers to make the deal look better than it was. I could’ve taken the easy path, but I chose the harder one. I was upfront with the client about the risks, even though I knew it might cost me the deal. And it did—I lost that contract. But you know what? Years later, that same client came back to work with me because they trusted me. They knew I’d always be honest, even when it hurt. That moment taught me that integrity pays off, not always in the moment, but always in the long run.

I also teach another key part of living with integrity, and it’s something I’ve practiced throughout my life: building authentic relationships rooted in growth. I always encourage people to go out of their way to connect with successful individuals they admire and ask to hear their stories. I’d reach out and say, “Can I hear your story? How did you get to where you are?” I can tell you—successful people are often happy to share their experiences, and their journeys have inspired me so much. When I was starting out, those conversations gave me insights I couldn’t find anywhere else. But it’s not just about learning—it’s about building a social circle of influence.

When I connect with people I admire, I’m not just gaining wisdom; I’m creating relationships with people who get to know me and see that I’m striving to be better than I was yesterday. These are people who might consider me for opportunities down the road—whether it’s a business partnership, a speaking engagement, or a chance to collaborate. I’ve seen this play out in my own life. Some of the biggest opportunities I’ve had came from relationships I built by showing genuine interest in others’ stories. Integrity in these interactions means being authentic, listening with an open heart, and showing that I’m committed to growth. That’s the kind of person others want to invest in, and I want to help you cultivate that same approach. For me, integrity is what makes me unstoppable, and I’m here to help you live with integrity, starting today.

Become Goal Driven

Fundamental #6 in the Fundamentally Unstoppable Program

Hey, unstoppable dreamers! I’m Jason Caras, and I’m here to talk about Fundamental #6: Become Goal Driven. Being goal-driven has given my life direction and purpose, and I’m so excited to share this with you. My journey started in a tough place—I was arrested nine times by the age of 17, kicked out of school, and never went to college. But I turned my life around by setting clear goals and chasing them relentlessly. That’s what took me from a troubled youth to scaling companies to the Inc 5000 list seven times, becoming a Top 250 Leader in the World, and inspiring thousands as a coach and speaker.

Let me share a story about a goal that changed everything for me. After years in the tech industry, I felt a calling to become a public speaker. I wanted to share my story to inspire others, but I had zero experience on stage. So I set a SMART goal—Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound. My goal was to speak at one event within 6 months. I broke it down into steps: I’d write my speech, practice daily, and reach out to event organizers. I was terrified—I’d never done anything like this before. But I took action, and 5 months later, I was on stage, sharing my story with an audience of hundreds. That moment opened doors I never imagined—I’ve since spoken to thousands, including youth in juvenile detention centers, helping them see their own potential. That one goal transformed my life.

I believe being goal-driven isn’t just about dreaming big—it’s about acting big. Goals give you a roadmap, a reason to leap out of bed every morning. They help you focus on what matters most, even when life throws curveballs. For me, goals were my anchor during tough times—like when I was rebuilding after losing everything, or managing my mental health challenges with bipolar disorder and addiction. I’d set small, achievable goals to keep moving forward, like making one call a day to rebuild my business, or practicing 5 minutes of mindfulness to stay grounded. Those small wins built momentum, leading to bigger victories, like scaling my companies.

Setting goals also keeps you accountable. I’d write them down, break them into steps, and track my progress, just like I did with my speaking goal. That structure helped me stay on course, even when I doubted myself. Goals turned me into the man I am today—a 7-time Inc 5000 honoree, a global leader, and a coach who’s here to help you. I know you have dreams inside you, and I’m here to help you turn them into reality by becoming goal-driven, starting today.

Accountability

Fundamental #7 in the Fundamentally Unstoppable Program

Hey, unstoppable warriors! I’m Jason Caras, and I’m here to talk about Fundamental #7: Create a Life of Accountability. Accountability has been a cornerstone of my journey, and I’m so excited to share this with you. It’s been key to rebuilding my life, over and over again. I’ve faced some tough challenges—I lost everything three times, starting from scratch each time, and I’ve battled mental health struggles like bipolar disorder and addiction. But holding myself accountable kept me on track, even when I felt like giving up.

Let me take you back to when I was writing Fundamentally Unstoppable. I was juggling so much—running an explosive company as a CEO, being a dad to my kids Sophia, Paxton, and Solimar, and a husband to my incredible wife Jennifer aka Duke, all while coaching countless people. Some days, I didn’t feel like writing at all. I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and doubted myself. But I’d made a promise to myself and my family to finish that book. I created systems to hold myself accountable—I tracked my progress daily, even if I only wrote for 20 to 30 minutes. I too had a coach at the time. It was the late great Farnk Clark, aka Mr Orange. We would meet weekly and it was a $100 a minute if you were late. It was important and we treated it that way. We would pull up a mutually shared spreadsheet and go through what we both promised the week before in terms of what we were going to get done in action we were going to take. The mere thought of showing up week after week and not doing what you say you were going to do is enough to make you do it! That is the power of accountability. If you’ve ever worked out with a personal fitness trainer, you know you get your best results when you have a trainer that’s holding you accountable. And when you pay attention to your patterns because they do not lie, you get a keen sense on whether you are making progress or you are deluding yourself. The person says I want to do this but more often than not they do this! The place in between is called delusion. Just looking at a lack of performance over and over will be enough to kick you in the butt.

That external support helped me stay focused, and it’s what allowed me to build companies that inspired thousands and earned awards like the Inc 5000.

I believe accountability isn’t about blame—it’s about empowerment. It’s about taking ownership of your actions and results, even when it’s hard. For me, it’s also about building systems that keep you on track, whether that’s tracking your progress, sharing your goals with someone you trust, or setting consequences for not following through. Accountability has been my lifeline through every challenge—whether I was rebuilding my business, managing my mental health, or showing up for my family. It’s what turned a kid with a troubled past into a 7-time Inc 5000 honoree, a Top 250 Leader in the World, and a coach who’s here to help you. I know you can create a life of accountability too, and I’m here to help you start that journey today.

Take Action! Massive Action!

Fundamental #8 in the Fundamentally Unstoppable Program

Hey, unstoppable champions! I’m Jason Caras, and I’m here to talk about Fundamental #8: Take Action! Massive Action. This principle has been a driving force in my life, and I’m so excited to share it with you. I’ve learned that massive action means taking bold, decisive steps toward my goals without hesitation, even when I’m scared, even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed. One of the biggest examples of this in my life was when I launched my coaching business while still running a tech company. I had no guarantee it would work—I was stepping into the unknown. But I took massive action! That bold move paid off in ways I never imagined—I’ve since inspired countless people, from corporate leaders to youth in juvenile detention centers, helping them see their own potential.

I believe dreams don’t become reality by waiting—they come to life when I act, and I mean act big. I talk about this in my book, Fundamentally Unstoppable—small margins can make a huge difference. Take professional golf, for example—the average difference between first and second place in PGA tournaments is just 1.71 strokes. That tiny gap shows the power of going all in. For me, massive action was the difference between staying down and rising up. When I lost everything three times—penniless, starting over—I didn’t wait for the perfect moment. I acted. I took risks, started over, and kept going, even when I was terrified of failing again.

Let me share another moment that really shaped my understanding of massive action. When I decided to write Fundamentally Unstoppable, I was terrified. I’d never written a book before, and I doubted myself every step of the way. But I took massive action—I set a goal to write every day, blocked out time in my schedule, and just started, even when I didn’t feel ready. Some days, I’d only write a paragraph, but I kept going. That action turned my fear into a book that’s now changing lives. Massive action isn’t about being fearless—it’s about acting despite the fear, because that’s where growth happens.

I’ve seen how massive action creates momentum. Each bold step I took—whether it was launching my coaching business or writing my book—built on the last, leading to bigger wins, like scaling my companies and speaking on stages around the world. I’m sharing this with you because I know you have dreams inside you, waiting to come to life. Let’s take that first bold step together and make massive action your superpower, starting today.

Action is for the serious.

If you promise yourself to act and you do not act, what are you telling yourself?

Conversely, when you do, you are building self confidence, self esteem, and your presence is glowing and you have a skip to your beat!

Take action today on something you have been putting off! And don’t stop!

Build your glow!

Mastering Self Talk ~ Win the Conversation in your Head!

Fundamental #9 in the Fundamentally Unstoppable Program

Win Your Internal Conversations

Hey, unstoppable minds! I’m Jason Caras, and I’m here to talk about Fundamental #9: Win Your Internal Conversations. This is all about mastering the thoughts in my head, and it’s been a critical part of my journey—I’m so excited to share this with you. In my book, Fundamentally Unstoppable, I talk about how negative self-talk—like “I can’t do it” or “I’m not good enough”—used to hold me back. I heard those voices loud and clear, especially during my struggles with bipolar disorder and addiction, or when I was making big transitions. Those thoughts could’ve stopped me in my tracks, but I learned to fight back, and that’s what changed everything.

Let me share how I did it. When I was younger, I’d tell myself I wasn’t good enough, especially after losing everything three times—penniless, starting over from scratch. Those thoughts were like a weight on my shoulders, dragging me down. But I started using strategies to reframe them. I’d replace “I can’t” with “I’m learning, and I will.” I also used mindfulness to step back and observe my thoughts without judgment—I’d sit quietly, breathe deeply, and notice the negativity without letting it control me. Another tool I love is Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). I’d visualize my doubts as a dark cloud, then imagine that cloud transforming into a bright light with a positive affirmation, like “I’m capable of anything I set my mind to.” That shift was powerful—it turned my fear into fuel.

I’ve seen the science behind this too. Research shows that positive self-talk can boost your immunity, improve your self-esteem, and sharpen your focus. For me, it was a lifeline. When I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at 42, my inner voice told me I was broken. But I fought back with positive self-talk: “I’m a work in progress, and I’ll get through this.” That mindset helped me rise from the ashes three times, becoming a 7-time Inc 5000 honoree, a Top 250 Leader in the World, and a coach who’s impacted thousands.

Let me share a specific moment that really drove this home. When I was writing Fundamentally Unstoppable, I hit roadblock after roadblock. My inner critic would say, “You’re not a writer. Who’s going to read this?” But I used those strategies—mindfulness, NLP, positive affirmations—to reframe my thoughts. I’d tell myself, “I’m sharing my story to help others, and that’s enough.” That shift turned my doubt into determination, and I finished the book. Winning my internal conversations isn’t about silencing the critic—it’s about coaching myself to be my biggest cheerleader. I’m here to help you do the same, starting today.

Your inner voice is either your champion or your sabatore!

Choose the champion!

Silence your self limiting belief!

Replace negative talk with positive optimistic talk!

Give yourself a fighting chance!

You wouldn’t let someone else talk to you the way you talk to yourself sometimes.

Choose to win the conversation in your head!

Grit ~ Never Give Up

Fundamental #10 in the Fundamentally Unstoppable Program

Hey, unstoppable warriors! I’m Jason Caras, and I’m here to talk about Fundamental #10: Grit—Never Give Up!! This is the final piece of the puzzle, and it’s been the fire in my soul through every challenge I’ve faced—I’m so excited to share this with you. I’ve lived this principle in the deepest ways. I’ve lost everything three times—penniless, starting over from scratch. I’ve battled mental illness, including bipolar disorder and addiction, and faced self-doubt that could’ve crushed me. But I never gave up. That indomitable spirit turned me into a 7-time Inc 5000 honoree, a Top 250 Leader in the World, and a coach who’s inspired thousands.

I share stories —like David Goggins’s, who, despite facing racism, poverty, and physical challenges, became a Navy SEAL and ultramarathon runner by embracing his "40% rule" and pushing beyond his limits, or Jocko Willink’s, who, through his disciplined leadership and philosophy of "Extreme Ownership," led his SEAL team to success in the most challenging environments. These stories remind me that grit turns ordinary people into extraordinary achievers. For me, grit is about relentless perseverance, no matter the obstacles. My ‘why’—my family, my wife Jennifer (aka Duke), my kids Sophia, Paxton, and Solimar—kept me going. They’re the reason I pushed through, even when I felt like I had nothing left.

Let me share a moment that really defined grit for me. After my third loss, I was ready to quit. I was broke, struggling with my mental health, and felt like a failure. I looked at my kids and thought, “I can’t be this for them—I have to show them what’s possible.” So I remembered my ‘why’—to be a role model for them and to help others. I took it inch by inch. I’d set small goals, like making one call a day to rebuild my business. Some days, that was all I could manage, but I kept going. Those small steps led to massive wins—like scaling companies to the Inc 5000 list seven times. Grit isn’t about giant leaps; it’s about consistent steps, even when it’s hard.

I’ve seen the research on this too. Angela Duckworth’s studies show that grit predicts success more than talent or IQ—it’s about showing up when you’re tired, learning from failure, and staying connected to your purpose. That’s what I did, and it’s what made me the ‘phoenix’ my family calls me—someone who rises from the ashes, again and again. I’m here to help you cultivate that same grit, starting today.
